Description
This 5.25″ Clovis point is knapped from a rare material I named Debitage Jasper. It came from a ranch near Durango, Mexico and is what’s known geologically as a brecciated jasper. Most brecciated jasper can’t be flintknapped. This variety, however, is a remarkable exceptional and has very good conchoidal fracture. The result? A wild looking Clovis point that appears to be comprised of small pieces of various stone all mashed together. That is in essence what it is. The name, “Debitage Jasper” is from the archaeological term, debitage, which is waste flakes from the knapping proccess. It’s one of the most remarkable materials I’ve ever knapped.
